There was drama at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Jkia) Nairobi on Monday night when Nigeria Super Eagles’ squad touched down in Nairobi.
The team rejected a bus accorded to take them to the hotel as they had made their own arrangements for transport and even drove off without security.
Kenya FA Secretary General Michael Esakwa said they were forced to stop the bus carrying the players and officials from Nigeria as they could not be allowed to drive off without security.
“We had organized a bus to carry the team and luggage but they declined to board it and instead used their own transport. Their bus drove off without security forcing us to ask policemen to block it from leaving.”
“Ultimately we are responsible for their security and if anything happens to them we will be the ones to answer,” Esakwa told Goal.
The Nigerian delegation also rejected 680 Hotel that had been reserved for them claiming it was too noisy preferring to instead book themselves into the La Mada Hotel located along Thika Road.
In March, Harambee Stars had complained about the hotel accommodation they got while in Lagos during the first leg match played in Calabar.
